For questions about using and representing matrices on a computer in order to solve computational problems. Should generally also include a tag about the specific property/problem you are solving (e.g. [tag:linear-algebra], [tag:eigenvalues], [tag:inverse].

LAPACK - singular matrices - what does the positive integer info mean?

please can you help me with my code - I use Lapack to solve complex matrix (quite biq) and do it in two steps: I call zgetrf (LU factorization) and then zgetrs (solving system). … So I understand my matrix is somehow singular. But what does the number say - if my info=2 then the second line in my matrix is linear dependent? Or something like that? Many thanks …

Marker and Cell Method (MAC) - STOKES FLOW - boundaries?

I don't understand how to do the things on boundaries (lets say I want to have v=0 on boundaries), how to fill the matrix - I will solve it as Ax=b where A is matrix 3*N*Nx3*N*N and b right hand side vector …

Singular matrix - but SVD works - what does the eigenvalues mean? Find I the "dependent" lines?

I have a complex matrix A as a set of equations. I wanted to find the solution of Ax=b where b is vector of right-hand side. … So I have called zgetrf on A (does LU factorization) and then zgetrs on A and b (solves linear system of LU matrix) from Lapack/MKL. …

ZGETRF and ZGETRS from MKL - zgetrf fails and still zgetrs works?

I checked the matrix $A$ through SVD as well - the SVD decomposition says no problem, matrix $A$ is regular. … What does it mean - where could be the error in the matrix? When SVD says the matrix is regular but LU decomposer says it's singular? …
